Barcelona, the club announced that it had reached an agreement with Javier Mascherano to extend his contract until June 30, 2018 in addition to a voluntary season after the end of this period.
Under the new contract,the Argentine international will remain a player in the team for four more years, and the penalty clause in the Select is 100 million euros. Javier Mascherano, who is preparing for the World Cup, joined Barcelona in the summer of 2010, coming from Liverpool. Mascherano played 184 games with Barçlona where he won all the tournaments possible: Champions League (2011), La Liga (2011-2013), the King's Cup (2012), European Super Cup (2011) Spanish Super Cup (2012 and 2014) and The FIFA Club World Cup (2011).
